Who knew that the color of my organic potatoes would change so much after a scrub? I feel better scrubbing my veggies with a brush that will biodegrade after it is used up.
Only thing is that the bristles are slightly longer, so they need to be rinsed well after a scrub, or else particles can remain among them.

(More customer reviews)A device for scrubbing mushrooms...hmmm. I admit that when I saw this at the local cooking stuff store that I not only smirked, but actually have a little laugh. I thought "good grief, a gadget for everything...now even cleaning your mushrooms...what next, a device to scrub potatoes with..no, wait, I have one of those." Well, as this thing did not cost all that much and due to the fact that I eat a lot of mushrooms and use them in my cooking, I went ahead and bought it on a lark.
Now I absolutely hate canned mushrooms and only use fresh, fresh, fresh. I of course buy them at the local store but I also hunt them in the wild and actually have nerve enough to eat what I find. (Note: I had some very good training growing up, own quite a number of books on the subject, attend seminars and am very, very careful. I did not just fall off the turnip wagon when it comes to gathering these lovelies. I digress...sorry.....
Anyway, I brought it home, threw it in a drawer and forgot about if for over a week. Long story short, it was not long until I bought several pounds of small buttons to serve as appetizers (I fear I cannot share with you my ultra secret stuffing for these as I would have to dispose of you if I revealed that information. Anyway, I actually used this little brush to clean the little things with and it worked like a chart. The brush is soft enough that it does not damage the mushroom; it is easy to clean with hot water and made a tiresome chore so much easier.
This whole thing has certainly been a lesson for me and I will think twice before snickering at something I know nothing about in the future.
I hardly recommend this little brush. Hey, it is inexpensive and if you find you do not like it...no big deal. You can always rewrap it and pawn it off as a gag gift at the office party next year.

I tried informing Amazon.com that they'd accidentally gave this item an absurdly high price ($12 for a dish brush?!), but they sent me back a form email that indicated that a human didn't actually read what I'd sent them. I wonder if there's anyone who's ever actually bought a twelve dollar dish brush from Amazon.com?

You will not find a better brush to clean a potato or carrot or any veggie. The lack of a handle is a plus it's easier to control when holding in the palm of your hand rather then holding onto a handle. I was very upset to loose my inherited antique Fuller brush the coir natural fiber freebie one that they used give out when selling brushes door to door. The brushes of similar shape and size and material that are made in China have a strange odor like bug spray, and fall apart when you clean the brush. Replacing my brush was a true challenge till I found this brush. Plastic brushes sold today just don't do the job. This brush is not made in China and does not smell like bug spray when you take it out of the package.

(More customer reviews)I've owned this brush for two years. I was looking for a vegetable brush to mainly clean off carrots. Now the good part about this is the middle portion of the brush has a hole in it. The carrot fits right inside and brushes off the dirt. The bad part is that the bristles get twisted & bunched up. They sometimes break off but it is not often. If it were not for the bristles this would be a terrific brush.

The flexible non-slip handle is comfy for you but the stiff and sturdy bristles make dirt very uncomfortable. Cleans vegetables like nobody's business!

Chef'n Palm Brush, Avocado Review

(More customer reviews)This Chef'n Palm Brush is a pretty good brush. Its brush hair is tougher than soft toothbrush hair and softer than brass/steel wire brush. I would say the toughness of its brush hair is on par with a brand new medium to hard tooth brush. It works well on most vegetables. I have tried it on potatoes, okra, butternut squashes, celeries, and mushrooms... It seems to do a pretty good job, except the mushrooms and celeries. Its brush hair is too hard for the mushrooms. Cleaning celery proves to be slightly challenging because of the curvature surface of the celery. It can effectively clean the convex surface, but not the concave surface due to its short hair. I presume a brush with softer and longer hair will do a better job at cleaning the mushrooms and celeries, but it will not be as effectively for potatoes, for example. Ultimately, the Palm Brush strikes a good balance, though not perfect for all vegetables. It is best for flatter and harder surfaces. Think of it as a soft scrubber or hard toothbrush.
As for the unique ring design, I have mix feelings about it. When using the ring alone, I found the palm brush wobbles as I brush. Afterall, it is be a single point contact. For a small job, it is much easier to just clinch the entire brush with my hand and start scrubbing. It is more secure and provides greater force. On the other hand, clinching the palm brush for extensive period of time makes one's hand tired. Wearing the ring is more ergonomic, and you can brush through many more vegetables this way -- even if it wobbles a bit. By the way, I have seen people wear this in either direction -- with the "chef'n" logo reading right side up or upside down. One will put the brush under your palm and the other will put it under your fingers.
As for the price, it is more expensive comparing to other veggie brushes on the market.

It swivels slightly & the tip for removing potato eyes is plastic, so you won't cut yourself if trying to use it to peel jicama. I know most people would use a paring knife for that, but I have poor knife skills. On hard things like jicama, I can hold the tip for leverage. Awesome peeler!

(More customer reviews)The "Oxo Good Grips 33781 Flexible Vegetable Brush" is the best vegetable brush I have been able to so far locate. The reasons I gave it five stars are the brush is easy for me to hold and the bristles do a good job of cleaning potato skins and it is very easy to keep this brush clean by rinsing with very hot water and even placing in the dishwasher (as long as you use either a covered basket OR 'wedge' it in the fork-and-utensil basket). I give the product five stars but am still hoping to find a brush just a bit larger with even firmer bristles. But I do not regret purchasing this item and do use it consistently which I cannot say for other brush-type items...durable...that's the word: this brush will do the job and is easy to maintain and it is DURABLE. It still looks new! Also, for anyone with a physical challenge involving the hands, (like arthritis) the product is comfortable to use.
