Churchill China Chelsea Blue Willow 45-Piece Dinnerware Set, Service for 8 Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)Second time around - going to quit and get a refund. No more dishes from Amazon. Amazon should consider suspending this vendor as the dishes were improperly packaged and labeled which led to dish breakage. Also no proof or materials enclosed that show if the plates are microwave or dishwasher safe or contain no lead.
Here is my note to Amazon customer service from the first try:
The Amazon box had a slit from top to bottom on one of its corners. It also wasn't properly labeled "i.e. glass, caution, or breakables" to warn the shipper of its contents.
Once I opened the main Amazon box, there were two cardboard boxes that were unlabeled by the manufacturer. On the product description it stated that the china was to come packaged in the manufacturer's original packaging - it wasn't. Both boxes looked like they had been opened previously.
The first box was packaged correctly and had cardboard separators with paper between each item.
The second box was a different story. I knew it was a bad sign when I lifted the box out and I heard a rattle. When I opened it the dishes were laid in there haphazardly with the cardboard separators all jumbled on the bottom so I know someone had already opened it and perhaps it was a return. I was surprised that only three saucers were broken considering the state of the packaging.
Further, I was disconcerted because I ordered the product because it was Churchill and made in England, as stated in the product description. It is misrepresented because the items I received said they were Wessex and made in Malaysia. The outside of the plain cardboard box stated it was made in Columbia! WHAT THE HECK????
I have been a loyal Amazon customer over the years and have been quite happy with my Amazon and Amazon marketplace purchases. This was my first disappointment. I will stick with non-breakables from now on.

Mikasa "Swirl" Cereal Bowl Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)This is a lovely bowl. The very slightly oval shape, not at all pronounced, make it even more attractive. It turned out to be an inch too big for our purpose--we are trying to replace individual salad bowls, so we have given it as a Christmas present filled with local pistachios, etc.

Mikasa's Swirl Tan is the latest color of the very popular Swirl stoneware collection; the tan color stands on its own, or can be mixed and matched with either the white or black versions. The "pottery wheel" feel of each piece gives a rustic look to your table, and the contrasting matte and gloss glazes on each piece makes for a varied looking setting.

Mikasa Antique White 45-Piece Dinnerware Set, Service for 8 Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I know I drove my new husband nuts when we registered. I changed my mind about a million times, and researched everything on our registry. I was the worst when it came to choosing China. I looked first at various beautifully painted patterns, only to realize that they weren't dishwasher or microwave safe. And most of the White patterns were so dainty my husband wouldn't even pick them up in the stores, so I was terrified to have them around him and children, since we have 4 neices and 2 nephews under the age of 8. My solution came in this china.
The pattern is elegantly simple so it will never be dated and even though it's thin and light (yes, it's translucent, you can see light through it, but good china is supposed to be) it is a comfortable fit for everyone who uses it, from my 6'6" husband to our 2 year old neice.
This China is also microwave safe, dishwasher safe, oven safe and chip resistant. I've found this to hold true because my husband always overloads the sinks and dishwasher, and tends not to care where he puts things. My Mikasa china is holding up beautifully. My teacups have been used to bake souffles, freeze parfaits and all of the dishes have been repeatedly microwaved. Yes THIS CHINA IS OVEN, FREEZER, DISHWASHER, MICROWAVE ETC. PROOF! My only advise is wipe the cups before they go in the dishwasher.
If you like drinking the milk out of your cereal bowl, I would suggest either purchasing additional cereal bowls or purchasing the smaller set and definitely purchasing additional platters and vegetable bowls. This set comes with rimmed soup bowls and they are not good to sip out of.

Mikasa English Countryside Round Vegetable Bowl Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)Great quality! I've had this pattern for 5 years and continue to be satisfied. I recently added this vegetable dish to my set. It's sturdy, versatile (going from microwave to dishwasher), and neutral so that I can mix and match with my other table settings. The round vegetable bowl is heavy and resistant to chipping. It's approximately 10-1/2" wide from side to side, the rim itself 1-1/2", and the bowl about 3" deep. I primarily use it to serve veggies but recently I served a tossed salad in it to serve 3 people and it worked well.
